No. 9 Texas vs No. 7 Texas A&M
9:21
Full time, 0-0.
9:19
Another surging run from Jill Gilbeau frees Courtney Goodson on the left side of the box, but her left footed shot goes just wide. 1 minute left.
9:15
A scrum ensues from a Texas corner and the ref gives A&M a free kick, much to the disgust of head coach Chris Petrucelli, who has to be restrained by the assistant ref as he charges the field. And to the delight of the crowd, the corner is given back to Texas and a yellow card is awarded to A&M’s Amber Gnatzig and Texas’ Kylie Doniak. Dyer ends the drama by catching Gaines’ thrice taken corner.
9:08
Second overtime gets underway.
9:06
100 minutes have failed to produce a goal, leaving a final 10 to navigate. The Longhorns are almost in complete control in midfield, but a compact and disciplined defense has stood up just enough to prevent the crucial goal. At the other end, Pfenninger has had to be alert on long passes over the top as the defense pushes up, and she has come flying out of her box on several occasions to clear the danger and scare more then a few Texas fans.
8:59
The Longhorns have controlled the ball with ease so far, but still no telling ball to unlock the A&M defense.
8:56
Overtime kicks off. Two 10 minute periods.
8:52
Overtime. Neither side is able to put away their half chances, and though the Horns will feel they have had the best of these 90 minutes, they will have to prove it again over the next 20, with the golden goal hanging like a shadow over this match.
8:49
With just 2 minutes left, Goodson has the best chance of the match, played through by Logterman in the right side of the box, but her shot whistles wide of the post. Meanwhile, Gilbeau forces another save from Dyer, who then clutches Gaines’ corner out of the air.
8:43
As the seconds continue to slip away at Myers Stadium, overtime begins to hang over the crowd and players. Texas responds with two shots from Gilbeau and Arlit that brings the crowd to their feet, but go just off target.
8:33
And there is confirmation that Texas Soccer has triumphed over ACL, with 5585 fans in attendance, breaking the eight-year record set against North Carolina.
8:32
Space is starting to open up in midfield as players tire. The Longhorns try to break and get a corner, but Gaines’ delivery is for once lacking, and a foul give A&M a chance to clear.
8:27
Kasey Moore and Courtney Gaines team up to stop an A&M counter attack, and Moore frees Logterman on the left wing with a perfectly weighted pass. The senior responds with a very good cross, but Goodson can’t connect from inside the six yard box and the chance goes begging.
8:24
Both sides look to their benches for inspiration, as chances have dried up in the last 10 minutes. An A&M free kick looks dangerous, but Pfenninger leaves her goal-line confidently to punch clear.
8:16
Logterman goes on a winding run in midfield and is tripped 25 yards out. Moore’s free kick is blocked, while her follow up is easily held by Dyer.
8:13
Dyer looks shaky taking a cross, but the ball is cleared after the keeper spills it. Hooper surges forward at the other end, but Erica Campanelli shepherds her wide and her tame shot is off target.
8:09
Another Gaines free kick puts A& under pressure, but they deal with it well. The ball breaks to Gaines at the top of the box, but her shot is easily held. At the other end, Whitney Hooper sends a header wide of Pfenninger’s goal from a dangerous position, but the linesman flag spares her blushes, offside.
8:05
A great cross from Alisha Ortiz lands agonizingly in front of the streaking Logterman, five yards away from the A&M goal. Just out of reach.
8:03
Both sides return to the field, with Goodson taking her role atop of the Texas frontline, to the delight of the home crowd. And we’re underway again.
7:47
Halftime. About what everyone expected with two heavyweights matching up and an early lead in the Big 12 to play for. Goodson’s injury is the biggest story of an uneventful 45 minutes, and she has not reappeared after being helped to the locker room.
7:44
Half-time is just around the corner now, and the crowd at Myers is still in good voice. A&M is enjoying a spell of possession in the Texas half, but they don’t look capable of breaking down this experienced Texas defense
7:38
Texas gets as close as it has come all night to open the scoring, as Gilbeau beat her defender in the corner and delivered a cross that Lucy Keith somehow fails to put away. Dyer gratefully dives on the ball and clears the danger. A&M responds with two shots that bring Diana Pfenniger into action.
7:26
A sight most Texas fans don’t want to see, freshman sensation Courtney Goodson crumpled on the turf holding her right ankle in pain after a crunching tackle from Raven Tatum. She’s up now and helped off the field, right shoe off her foot.
7:22
The first yellow card leavs the reffere’s back pocket as Texas defender Jill Gilbeau is draged down in front of the A&M bench by Beth West. Gilbeau has been streaking down Texas’ right flank all night, giving the Longhorns some much needed width.
7:20
And the newly crowned Big 12 Ofensive players of the week delivers another beauty, but Moore’s stooping header goes over again.
7:19
A&M gets a call in its favour and its in a very good postion, 25 yards from the Texas goal, but sophmore Niki Arlitt bravely, if unknowingly, blocks the shot with her head. Texas marches back up the field to earn another corner.
7:16
The game is getting increasingly physical, but thankfully the ref is happy to let play go on and has called only two fouls so far, both on the Aggies for inexcusable pushes in midfield. Kasey Moore has been back to her defensive best, stepping in front of passes and dominating everything in the air as neither side can carve out a chance in the first 17 minutes.
7:05
A&M freshman forward Jennifer Kmezich has looked dangerous so far, turning Kasey Moore on one occassion with surprising ease. At the other end, the ‘Horns are moving the ball around on the ground, a nice change from their hopefull punts to start the game against Cal. The Longhorns get corners in quick succession, and Courtney Gaines’ delivery is causing all sorts of problems for the Aggies. Moore sends a looping header over the bar.
7:01
Senior goalkeeper Diana Pfenninger gives Texas an early scare when she clears a long ball into a charging A&M foward, but with the goal left open the ball rolls well wide.
7:00
The crowd breaks out in a back-and-forth of “Texas! Fight!” as players are introduced and take their position on the field. The Longhorns launch into an attack right away with Courtney Goodson forcing a throw in.
6:50
Texas players return to the field while Hook’em and Texas cheerleaders rile up the crowd. The ‘Horns are wearing their burnt orange top with white shorts and orange socks, while the Aggies take a full white kit on to the field. 10 minutes to go until kick-off.
6:47
More important then any conference race or school pride tonight will be the Lone Star Showdown point up for grabs. Senior Kasey Moore lamented the Longhorns’ loss last season in College Station, which gave the Aggies the point despite Texas winning two later postseason match ups.
6:40
The crowd is still filing in to Mike A. Myers Stadium 20 minutes before kick-off, where a near-record crowd is expected tonight. Just how much ACL has to say about that we’ll find out in a couple of hours, but for now, Texas vs. A&M is the big ticket on campus.

Volleyball Live Blog: Iowa State at No. 3 Texas
Set 3: Texas 27 vs. Iowa State 25
Unlike set 2, Texas came out strong in set 3 taking a quick 7-3 lead. But the Cyclones battled back to within 1 of Texas at 9-8.
A rare block of Destinee Hooker broke yet another tie and put the Cyclones up 12-11. But then…
Tied at 12… Iowa State took the next two points, and a service ace that saw the ball crawl over the net and fall onto the court extended the Cyclone lead to 15-12. After a Julliann Faucette kill the Cyclones responded again with a kill of their own to make their lead 17-14. A rare Michele Kocher kill, followed by another Hooker kill brought the ‘Horns with 2 at 19-17. But a Texas service error gave the momemtum back to Iowa State. That was until the Cyclones whiffed on another attack, and Ashley Engle followed that point up with as straight-down of a kill can possibly happen. Engle took a lobbed return from Iowa State and planted the kill no more than a foot from the match–the Cyclones had no chance to dig it, and Texas closed the lead to within 1, 20-19.
Hooker Kill, service ace combo number 2 tied the match at 21 all, and Texas finally took the lead back when Iowa State was called for a net violation. Texas 22-Iowa State 21.
Tied at 22… Faucette with a big kill that put the ‘Horns up, but not for long, Iowa State quickly tied it up again at 23.
Tied at 23… After Iowa State got to set point, the Longhorns fought back again and tied the match at 24.
Tied at 24… Victoria Henson blazed a kill past the Longhorns, put a Paolini kill to the corner kept the match alive.
Tied at 25… A Hooker kill barely found court, and Henson blazed a hit a little too far, and Texas took the third set 27-25.
Set 2: Texas 27 vs. Iowa State 25
Iowa State took an early 5-1 lead in set 2 leading to a very quick Jerritt Elliott timeout. But out of the timeout Texas didn’t look much better. The Cyclones blazed in a service ace to make it 6-1. Lauren Paolini is a strong force in the middle for Texas, not only is the senior the team’s best blocker, but when the ball floats anywhere near her in the middle she has no problem getting offensive–her third kill of the match helped Texas cut into the Cyclones lead.
Destinee Hooker added another kill and a service ace by Julliann Faucette had the Longhorns back within 1 at 8-7. Hooker answered a Cyclone kill with yet another of her own, followed by a Paolini service ace to tie the match at 9.
After Iowa State once again took the lead, Hooker tied the game up again with 2 straight kills of her own. Engle retied the match at 12 all, but Texas had still yet to take the lead in second set.
Tied at 13. And 14. And finally with a Engle service ace the Longhorns took their first lead of the second set 15-14.
Tied at 15… Paolini added another kill to put Texas back in the lead, only to see the game be tied again.
Tied at 16… Iowa State retook the lead at 17-16, but then Hooker slammed another kill.
Tied at 17… Iowa State took the lead again with their own kill. But the Longhorns tied things up again at 18.
Tied at 18… Texas service error gave the Cyclones the lead back, but as things went in the second set we saw yet another tie.
Tied at 19…
Tied at 20… A Diane Kieger kill put Iowa State ahead 21-20, but Paolini answered with her own kill.
Tied at 21… A Texas dig that sailed out of bounds put the Cyclones ahead, and a Iowa State kill ended the string of back and forth points. Paolini quickly killed the Cyclones building momentum with a kill, this time from outside her normal spot in the middle. A Cyclone error tied things back up at 23.
Tied at 23… Out of the timeout Faucette netted her serve. But with the Cyclones at set point, Hooker smashed home yet another kill to tie things once again.
Tied at 24… After Iowa State took another lead, and had another set point, Hooker racked up another kill to tie things at 25.
Tied at 25… Texas took their first set point on an Iowa State attack error, emphasis on the error part–the Cyclones completely whiffed on their attack. Texas took the match when a Cyclone near-kill just missed the back line. Texas 27-25
Set 1: Texas 25 vs. Iowa State 19
Texas started out their 2008 home Big 12 campaign strong, cruising out to a 4-1 lead. But then Julliann Faucette was blocked at the net two straight points and the Cyclones had tied the score at 4 all.
Lauren Paolini continues her high percentage ways–in her first attempt of the night she netted a kill. This is after a career high .800 hitting match against Nebraska Saturday. Hooker followed Paolini with a huge kill of her own, and Ashley Engle followed with two straight service aces to force an Iowa State Timeout. (Texas 9-Iowa State 5)
Paolini, who leads Texas with 1.1 blocks per game, just got a huge stuff of Iowa State. Another Destinee Hooker kill–her third of the match helped extend the Texas lead to 13-7. The Cyclones gathered a two point mini-run before a service error ended their momentum. An Engle kill, followed by a Hooker service ace stretched the Texas lead to 16-10, forcing the Cyclones into using another timeout.
If the Cyclone timeout was to “ice” to server, it worked. After the break Hooker smashed her serve straight into the net. But Texas responded after the service error with Faucette smashing her third kill of the match. Paolini added another kill from her position in the middle, but the Cyclones would battle back narrowing the lead to 18-15. With a Hooker block and kill combo the lead was back to 6, with Texas leading 21-15.
But with Texas leading the Cyclones fought back once again, bringing the Longhorn lead back to 4 at both 22-18, and 23-19.
After the Cyclones found the antenna, and Texas found a point, Faucette closed out the first set with a back line kill her fifth of the match. Hooker added 4 kills of her own in the 25-19 first set win.
Pregame
Texas is on the court preparing for their first Big 12 home match after losing a tough one in a tough place Saturday. The Longhorns couldn’t survive a few long Nebraska runs and fell to the Huskers 3-1 at the Nebraska Coliseum on Saturday.
Not that the Longhorns are making excuses for the loss, but the Huskers have now won 76 straight home matches. Tonight the Longhorns try to continue their own streak of 18 straight home wins. If you’re doing the math at home, with a win tonight over Iowa State, Texas will have one-quarter of Nebraska’s home win streak.
Julliann Faucette will be looking to bounce back after a poor outing on Saturday–she didn’t even break the .100 hitting mark.
The newest banner gracing Gregory Gym’s rafters–the Longhorn’s 2007 Big 12 Championship banner that is making its first appearence tonight.

Socce Live Blogging: No. 18 California at No. 10 Texas
Final, 2-1 Texas
Pfenninger easily plucks a corner out of the air as time winds down and the Longhorns escape with the victory. Texas improves its home undefeated streak to 21 and now prepare for the visit of Texas A&M Friday as they enter Big 12 play with a bang.
90:00, Second Half
2-1 Texas. Kasey Moore sends home Courtney Gaines’ free-kick with almost no time left to all but guarantee another dramatic Texas victory.
84:00, Second Half
Texas senior Stephanie Logterman is played through on goal with a chance to put the Longhorns ahead, but Pelligrini stands up tall to deflect the ball wide. Meanwhile, another corner leads to chaos in the Cal box and defender Emily Anderson deflects a flick-on towards goal from six yards, but the ball crashes against the cross bar and comes back out. At the other end, Pfenninger comes up with a huge one-on-one save to prevent Cal from landing a sucker punch with only two minutes left of normal time.
81:00, Second Half
After looking shell-shocked for a few minutes, Cal has recovered and both sides are driving at each other’s defense. Pfenninger is forced to make another save as Alex Morgan flicked a long ball towards goal, while the Longhorns look full of purpose going foward, with Goodson a threat every time she touches the ball.
72:00, Second Half
1-1. Texas defender Jill Gilbeau forces a spectacular save from goalkeeper Gina Pellegrini, but from the ensuring corner, freshman striker Courtney Goodson powers a header into the top corner to tie the game. Almost instantly, Texas breaks forward again and Goodson forces a diving save from Pellegrini and the rebound just avoids the streaking Lisberger, who was following up. The Longhorns look to have found an offensive rhythm for the first time this match.
65:00, Second Half
The Longhorns, on the defensive for much of this game, have their best chance of the match, as freshman Lucy Keith connects with a header from five yards out, only to put it over the bar. At the other end, Pfenninger is again called into action as she throws herself at the ball and gets there before the Cal forward as the visitors threatened again.
55:00, Second Half
Cal is starting to dominate on the scoreboard as well as on the pitch, and they have now out shot Texas 8-3. Goalkeeper Pfenninger had to be alert to stop a cross at her near post with Alex hovering in the background. Texas freshman Courtney Goodson answers with a low shot, but it’s easily saved Meanwhile, Texas midfielder Courtney Gaines makes a vital sliding block on the edge of the box as both offenses spring into life.
Start of First Half
Both sides return their original starters as the second half gets underway and Texas almost levels immediately as Logterman breaks through on the left side, but her cross into the middle is cleared by a stretching defender. A good start for the home side.
Halftime
The Bears go into half with the lead and no one can argue they don’t deserve it. The Longhorns have looked rather toothless in attack, and ended the half with all four starting forwards looking on from the sidelines as Petrucelli turned to his bench for answers. Texas’ one saving grace has been the chaos they have caused in the the Cal box from Courtney Gaines’ set-pieces, and with Cal racking up 12 fouls, there have been plenty of those.
30:00, First Half
1-0 Cal. The Bears play a free kick low into the box, and forward Alex Morgan beats Pfenninger with her second attempt to put the visitors ahead. Only the second goal Texas has conceded at home this season.
20:00, First Half
Both sides trade fouls in dangerous areas. Cal’s Megan Jesolva drives the ball low and just wide of Pfenninger’s far post, while Kasey Moore has her effort blocked out for a Texas corner. Freshman Kylie Doniak shots wide from the corner, as both sides look to open the game up.
11:00, First Half
Both sides are struggling to control the ball and there are more fouls and punts then chances so far. Cal’s Katie Oakes has looked dangerous with the ball at her feet, and it’s going to be up to the Texas midfield to keep her quiet.
Start of First Half
Both sides take the field as the Longhorns host their first ranked opponent of the season. On the back of a 2-1 double overtime win over TCU Friday night, Texas looks to keep its 20-game home unbeaten streak alive.

Football- Texas vs. Rice 9/20/08
11:07 4th quarter
john chiles gets a touchdown….if he could throw half as well as colt, he’d be starting just about anywhere
3 seconds, third quarter
ogbonnaya touchdown…38-10 Texas…fans are filing out.
halftime
Texas alumni band is playing and there’s an old guy who tosses the baton really really high…..fans are getting a kick out of him
1:00 2nd quarter
Colt McCoy makes the only bad pass I’ve seen him make this season. He is dead on this year.
6:00 second quarter
Jarrett Dillard of Rice is a stud. He has six catches for 126 yards…and its still the second quarter.
7:22 FLEA FLICKER..
I guess Mack Brown is trying to make it more interesting to the fans…people are already filing out one by one.
7:32 Official attendance: 97,201….though it doesn’t really look like it.
8:27 2nd quarter
Chase Clement seems like a very resourceful player…he seems like he sees the field better than quarterbacks of other lowly ranked teams..
10:51 2nd Quarter
COlt McCoy is showing it off. First he’s breaking through tackles like Jerome Bettis and then he’s throwing 30-yard touchdown passes to Jordan Shipley.
Is he a pro prospect?
1st quarter QB stats:
chase clement - 11 for 16, 91 yards
3 rushes for 51 yards
colt mccoy - 4 for 5, 94 yards
2 rushes, 32 yards, 1 touchdown
15:00 second quarter…7-3 Texas…. Rice seems to have Texas right where it wants them.
2:15 1st quarter
Rice is playing games with Texas- something I haven’t really seen from them in the past. They just pretended like they were going for it on 4th down for the second time this game, but instead punted it and pinned the Longhorns on the one-yard line….
This is not the same Rice team that Texas thrashes year after year…the score is still 7-3
5:00 1st quarter
If there’s one way that Rice is going to stay in this game, it’s through the air. Or by having Chase Clement (or Clements with an S if you’re Mack Brown) run the ball all day.
For some reason, the Owls keep running the ball or throwing out wide instead of up the middle. There’s been two big plays already for Rice up the middle.
6:44, 1st quarter
Texas is down to Rice 3-0 but Colt McCoy pulled a Tim Tebow, breaking two tackles for a touchdown. His running game is looking good - and that was his second rushing TD of the season.

Texas vs. Georgia: Live blogging from Gregory
Final: Texas defeats Georgia 3-1
Texas finishes their first home stand 3-0, with a 4 set win over Georgia in the final game of the Time Warner Cable Invitational. Texas won the match 25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 25-17 in front a loud crowd on a Friday night at Gregory Gym.
Hurricane Ike was no match for the power displayed by the Horns tonight. Texas hitters, Juliann Faucette, Destinee Hooker, and Lauren Paolini outclassed the Bulldogs all night. Besides an uncharacteristic second set serving the ball the Horns, dominated tonight’s match.
Faucette and Ashley Engle were named to the All-Tournament team, while Heather Kisner was voted Top Libero and Destinee Hooker named tournament MVP.
Set 4: Texas 25, Georgia 17
Bad news for Big 12 opponents, Destinee Hooker now has her serve dialed up. The junior All-American blazed an ace past the Bulldogs. Texas took an early lead before Georgia closed it a bit, but the Horns are still in control of this fourth set 8-5. Make that 9-5, the Dawgs just sent one to the upper part of Gregory Gym.
Another huge Lauren Paolini kill stretches the Texas lead to 15-10.
Service error number–way too many. Ashley Engle nearly hit an event staffer with her wide left miss.
But have no fear, Destinee Hooker is here to make up for it with another service ace. Her serve can be downright dangerous. You won’t catch me stepping in front of one of her fast balls, you can guarantee that. Hooker’s service run has the Horns up 19-14 which forced a Bulldog timeout.
Juilann Faucette must have heard I didn’t vote for her as tournament MVP, seconds after sending my ballot in she smashed two huge kills to push Texas to near victory. Then she grazed the end line on another to end the game 25-17.
Set 3: Texas 25 vs. Georgia 13
Texas libero got the Horns off to a strong start, her service ace helped the Horns build an early 5-0 lead.
Lauren Paolini gets back into the action with two kills in a row, extending the Texas lead to 9-1, and forcing Georgia to call a timeout. Paolini had a combined 8 kills in the first two games.
Another Texas service error–that doesn’t help the side out percentage. That makes 12 service errors for the Longhorns this match. Georgia still takes the cake with 17 service errors through the first 2 sets.
Out of the timeout Georgia has narrowed the Texas lead to 10-6.
I wonder if the Gregory Gym faithful will start repeating the PA guy if he starts yelling SERVICE ERROR. Yet another one. To make up for it Michelle Kocher got her second service ace of the game.
Then Faucette made the play of the match so far, diving back she dug a Georgia hit nearing the line and seconds later smashed an untouched kill, which she followed with a second straight kill to take the Texas lead to 16-8.
A member of the 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Men’s Volleyball team is part of the Gregory Gym crowd–too bad the eager crowd started cheering before we could hear the name. Either way, there is at least one Olympic Gold medalist in the crowd tonight–nameless or not.
Did I mention that Georgia likes to serve the ball outside the court–yet another Bulldog service error. Uga would not be happy. This isn’t a recent trend, the Bulldogs are averaging 9.8 service errors a match–but tonight the number is abnormally high. Their erradict serving ways seem to be wearing off on Texas, the Horns are also already above their season average of 7 service errors a game.
Ashley Engle added her own service ace–and Destinee Hooker was all over the court, over the net, on the floor, it didn’t matter–the versatile outside hitter is doing it all for the Horns in this third set.
Faucette finished off the Texas dominated set with a powerful, cross-court kill to win the third set 25-13. The ‘Horns sideout percentage should be slightly higher this set.
Set 2 Notes
Texas is holding Georgia hitter Maria Taylor to .273 hitting percentage, at least in the second set. Taylor had 9 kills, second most behind Destinee Hooker who had 10 kills in the second set. But Hooker hit a better .389 in the second set.
In the second game Texas’s side out percentage fell to 62 percent, from 68 in the first game while the Dawgs raised theirs from 58 to a match high 69.
The 62 percent mark is far below where Elliott want his team to perform.
Set 2: Texas 22, Georgia 25
Yet another Bulldog service error. Blame it on the increased barometric pressure do to Ike. But the Dawgs refuse to make excuses and take an early 6-3 lead in set 2.
Ashley Engle gets into the action in game too with a huge kill. On the next point Destinee Hooker goes way above the net to block a Georgia hit, and follows it up with a huge kill off the side of a Bulldog’s arm. Engle follows it up with another left handed smashing kill, to bring Texas back into the set, now only down a point.
Georgia still leads 12-11
Texas knotted things at 12 and then again at 13, only to see the Bulldogs take the lead the again both times. Georgia then extended their lead to 18-15 and….
Yet another Bulldog service error. Followed by a Michelle Kocher service ace to bring the lead back to one. But Georgia hit a service ace of their own before Elliott called a timeout.
Texas 17–Georgia 20
After Georgia slowed down another Hooker laser beam, Lauren Paolini smashed it back for a huge kill. Paolini had 3 huge kills in the first game but hadn’t done much in the second until she returned a huge smash. Faucette followed it up a few points later with her own smash bringing the score to 22-23, Georgia still in the lead.
Georgia finishes off the second set 25-22 after fighting off Hooker’s huge serve.
Set 1: Texas 25, Georgia 21
Lauren Paolini slams a kill straight down to put Texas up 4-3, and then All-American Julliann Faucette smashes home a kill of her own to make it 5-3 Texas. Destinee hooker who is known for her powerful serve just missed the court, ending Texas string of kills with a service error.
After the error Georgia moved into the lead with 3 quick points going up 6-5. But a service ace by Paolini put the Horns back on top 7-6.
Yet another Texas service error–a stat to keep an eye on for the Horns this season. If they can stay consistent with their serve they could go a long way.
Not often does Destinee Hooker get stuffed at the net. Not only is she surprised, but so is the the Gregory Gym crowd–when Hooker was blocked a noticeable gasp came out of the crowd.
No matter the surprise, and the early service errors Texas is now up 15-10 over the Bulldogs. Lauren Paolini is looking very strong in this first set.
Just after I finished updating that Hooker got blocked–gasp–she was back to her normal self. Most of the Bulldogs simply watched the laser kill as it zoomed past them. While Hooker may have gotten blocked, the true shock will be when someone digs one of her monster swings.
After a Bulldog service error Texas leads 19-10
The Bulldogs have cut the Texas lead to 21-19, forcing Texas coach Jerritt Elliott to call a time out. We’ll see how the Horns respond after the Bulldogs have cut the lead.
Hooker proceeds to trick everyone in the gym, going up high only to tap it over the Georgia blockers.
After another Hooker kill, Texas takes the first game 25-21 on a Bulldog service error.
Pregame
Just working out the kinks, seeing if this whole live blogging affair will actually work without us having to add a thousand new posts. Currently Texas starters are launching small plastic volleyballs to eagerly screaming fans. We should be starting any moment now.
We are running a little behind tonight at the Time Warner Cable Texas Invitational. Before the last game of the tournament could get under way, two other Texas teams, Houston and Texas State went to 5 sets before the Cougars won. Needless the say the final game wasn’t making the 6:30 p.m. scheduled start time.
The only UT sporting event of the weekend left, after Ike has wreaked its havoc on the football and soccer schedules, the students are crammed into their section along the sideline. It may be the free t-shirts, or simply the fact that students are sports starving on this campus and know the big meal Saturday was canceled.
That or they might be eager to see the No. 3 ranked volleyball team in the nation. Just maybe. Tonight’s match up with Georgia should be the best of the tournament, both teams won their first two matches over Texas State and Houston.
